Ultimately
after hearing that we will be making a project based around an object that
could be around us in modern day, easily went for a knife as sadly it is a topic
item. Originally was going to try to bring up modern day events, but went away
from that idea as to not offend people of the class or who could see it online.
So the first problem was finding where I wanted to go since the riots was the
main jump of idea. On September 8th 2020, watched the classic movie
psycho and saw that class big knife. Ultimately making a book cover that was
and now is a murder mystery book with a vague title to entice the imaginary
read to grab it and get caught up in the world.
So the research about
the movie, similar tropes, as well as color scheme was the next 3 sections to
find. Alfred Hitchcock was the big creator of the movie adaptation of the novel
originally wrote by Joseph Stefano. Not go exactly into the plot of the movie,
but going into many posters, versions, and covers helped cement the ideas.
So colors was the next
step and after that was getting a broad idea of similar covers or posters with
minimalist designs like psycho stuff.
Composure, refinement,
and evaluation all came to keeping this simple. Lead the eyes to specific areas
of the cover first with hierarchy and then focus on the ones that would be
graphically heavy then text heavy. Then the composition was made by slapping
some stuff around, messing with the pantones, and then doing similar designs by
restricting myself strictly to the source material used.
After all that, realizing the 2nd cover made that was mainly a white tile floor needed a boarder for computer viewing to see where things end more clearly which was added in the final product. Only main change made after the fact till critiques happen in the class.
