Project #3 (Grow): Project & Documentation / Project Summary
Project & Documentation
So on the first week of the project, i stole plants out of my parents garden behind our house. Some fairly small parts of healthy plants. Then cross planted them into big pots that were always near my back door or outside when the weather was nice.
Mint Rosemary Lettuce (first sprout)
(April 3rd)
Using some growth serums and a combination of soils helped significantly with their growth. Wishing I knew what was done with the mint since that grew the biggest. Eventually some started growing out the sides. Along with the one lettuce sprout, sprouted seeds were put in the pot as well. grew them all around and most were slimmer than the already spouted one. Rosemary was the least in terms of growth primarily as one stalk, but on the side in front of it, another rosemary sprout started growing.
Mint (Top) Lettuce (with other stalks)
Rosemary (Bottom)
(May 6th)
I will say that i am extremely happy with the lettuce. Admittedly some leaves wilted and they were cut off, but the lettuce got that nice wilted look it gets. The mint got pretty messy and wish there were some pruning done to it. As for the rosemary, personally did not expect it too get much bigger than that, though the small new one growing in front really was a nice pep as I thought they would all be dead by now.
Overall watching these day in and day out at first because of nerves disappeared when it eventually turned into just feeling the soil, making sure it was not getting over watered, and checking for any potential bugs on the plants.
Project Summary
Going into this project, the fear was high due to the lack of control and constrained time. Leaving my fate sort of in the power of nature was hard as stated in my earlier statements. Being a artist and person of technology who has complete control over what he is working on is a great thing. Having to let that go with this project and only being able to support the plant was nerve wracking as i did not want any of them to die. For this being the first real time any care went into plants of this level, proud seeing they did not succumb to mistreatment.
Knowing that the grow project will be used for the sort of re-imagined share project, it is exciting to know pretty much what i am going to make will consist of everything I have grown or a mix of them with other things.
