Design Brief Project 4

Problem statement: What is the topic and what is the brochure will look like.   Problem description: It is easy to pic a item or topic for this project, but selling the certain thing is also needed. As well as keeping this super clean and professional. Making the pages and whatever packaging choice do all look like one thing.   Target Audience: Young Adults   Goals: To get all the pieces to look cohesive and work well together so when people see the website, cover page, and the 8 other pages.   Constraints: Size is always the big challenge, but doing things in landscape should offer better results than portrait dimensions    Budget: The budget here was going back and forth between between InDesign, illustrator, and Clip Studio's Paint for smaller things. Deliverables: Cover page, Fake Website page, 8 pages to the brochure. Deadlines:   December 14th 2020

Design Brief: Project 2

Problem statement: Book Project Theme & Composition   Problem description: Designing a book cover is a bit daunting because there seems to be so many more aspects that need to go into this to make it something good. Going through Pinterest and certain artists did help a lot though with the prior assignment   Target Audience: Thriller or mystery readers would be what I believe I think the covers will center around.   Goals:   The goal is to come up with 3 book covers and then go down to two final and most well formed picks. From there, do any steps to make them look better, and wrap it up from there.   Constraints:   It will actually depend on the artist that we pull from since there will have a distinct style, colors possibly and maybe certain organization.   Budget:   If this was to have any budget to it, it would be something that could get produced easily or in multiple styles. So keeping something consistent between them all will be important while fulfill

Design Brief: Project #1

Problem statement: Ad ideas & compositions   Problem description: Having never done an ad for any design class before, this will be something where I need to look extensively online for ideas that are simplistic and get the point across without a lot of   Target Audience: General Consume for phones or computers   Goals: Have something simplistic so at the first critique, everyone will be able to know what is being shown.   Constraints:   Mainly the size of the add has to meet a certain dimension or points could be taken away from this assignment. Though filling the space should not be too hard of a challenge since it would have been harder if there was less space than more space.   Budget:   Having the full adobe sweet to conquer this assignment. I should have everything needed to make this project come to fruition. I do also have other programs installed if need just for fine turning if it comes to having to use them.   Deliverables: Thinking that since w

Problem statement: Placement and Topic Problem description: Making an infographic, you want it to look very clean as well as professional so things do not look all jumbled together. You want it easy on the eyes so the viewer can read what you want them to. Target Audience: School Students Goals: To make a infographic that will be easy to understand the subject matter and to get across this is (insert topic ideas) Constraints: The size of the canvas and orientation are going to be a big struggle since I am use to more square or wide canvas's. Budget: Trying to not spend any money on programs or assets besides what I have currently on my computer. Deliverables: To allow people to have a brief knowledge of the solar system inside the asteroid belt and out of it. Deadlines: The dead line is November 30th, 2020. I should be able to get everything done by that time and have the file for the critique.

Also there is a link for the asteroid belt I believe in there so hopefully this helps you see professor if you look here. Just as a sources page because I take no effort in the facts.

Book Project After Second Critque

Image
So the revisions of my book project went well and fizzed things down to the two versions of the book covers that should be touched up and turned in for the final project. Personally happy with the two that were selected because my first one was not as good and cohesive as the top right and bottom left. They were just super clean and very different from each other which is the whole purpose of the project. I also think that they give off the same feeling while the composition is drastically different color wise. So the one that gets the cut is the top left as it is the weakest in all areas. All that is left for the final version is making a PDF with the final touches on bringing the font in more for more space on the edges, then a personal want to change the vertical versions font to be something a bit more readable.

Book Project After First Critque

So the first critique actually went better than expected with small changes needed which was astounding since I thought there would have been more. Glad to have less problems with this then I had with project 1. The big parts were spacing of the fonts, font styles being too similar, then exaggerating things a bit to fit for the image dominant and text dominant. The big plays with be making those changes and applying the fonts that would look like their on the cover of horror, mystery, or thriller books. Once those are applied, then it will be messing with the letting and kerning for the spacing of the title to not be too close to the edges.

Book Project Initial Thoughts.

So I am puzzling the idea of either a horror book or something that is murder mystery like since it would be a easy approachable genre to find minimalist artwork for them. The main approach I want to go at is finding artwork with common color schemes, layouts, and executions. That is currently where I am, but hope to be more meticulous as I follow through with steps 10/20/2020     After a lot of research, Alfred Hitchcock and a lot of the posters based around him are what I want to go for in terms of genre and color style. Sadly his stuff is horror, but I want more thriller/mystery with my cover.

Final Outcome for Ad Project

The ending outcome was super nice to me, but it is something that is going out on a limb with a super simplistic design for a simple phone designs. I think the art design looks cohesive and as this was a little re-learning of the adobe programs. The biggest problem of the last version was just because it did not meet the size of what was needed for the ad. Was way too skinny and it was just way too cut down. The minimalist brown wood background is set also just meant to really work for both, but personally I believe that the brown background makes your eye really zoom in on the green and black ad. The biggest struggles of this project was just the re-learning and trying to meet the level of the other students which was very intimidating because so many made such complex and detailed works verses my own. I definitely want to step it up when it comes to the other projects and be open to using textures, graphics, and breaking up of things. Graphic design has this organized ideals, b

Phone Process Book #2

The biggest change i got from the professor was to put the text inside the phone screens in order to kind of clean things up. It did look kind of clunky and played extremely safe before which is a struggle on something with a grade. Taking what I could, played with a multitude of fonts, paired things together so that nothing would look too disjointed.  The biggest struggle was to make things have a little more pizzazz without going to crazy to where the message gets lots. So did some gradient work, added some speckles of colors to ride of Samsung's space theme which was such a great idea to not have a solid color background completely. I do not think this will meet the size needed for the project, but I will change what is needed if the professor says anything. Also the new idea was to center on Samsung's Knox security which is on every single version of their phones which is amazing since they are thinking about the users security and data. In the times we live in where w

Phone AD Process Book Step #1

I think the biggest things that happened with this project was the narrowing of an idea. Originally i wanted to do a ad sort of like showing of the qualities of phone before wanting to changed the idea entirely because it was just something that seemed too hard to show the class. There would be no good text besides practically copying Samsung's ads which would have no form of originality. If i went the way i wanted original with just the aura glow backs, it would ultimately fail since it would be something to pull teeth on creatively. So I decided to changed to the front and make little quotes in the screen then text to the sides.

Ephasising the camera for the note 10

Looking at ads from Samsung's commercials. Looking forward and the back. The screen's, the s pen, and the back are usually always shown for their commercials because you need to display all the outer selling points to wow people. All of these are casually shown to the viewers of the commercial in a clean and executive ways with either renders of the phone or one of the actual models for both sizes of the phone. Though the main thing for this project is showing the model that Samsung aimed to sell which is the note 10 plus that has aura glow, back, white, blue.

Phone ad object (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+)

Image
This phone was a big want for me in life because the note series of phones are the super expensive Samsung Flagship. A phone that artists, executives, and owned by people who strived to work their but off to have the best the company has to offer. Going into depth on a minimalist way to depicted this phone and its amazing aura glow colors along with aura black and aura white. Almost doing a concept design of white on the black on the bottom, white in the middle, aura glow on top since that was the selling "color". " Aura Glow  is essentially a rainbow color for the Note 10 as it showcases a variety of colors depending on how the light hits it." So going from this it is figuring out a way to come at this so it looks sort of natural which could be as simple as just using a multitude of colors over each other or blobbing everything together on one layer. Then also doing research a type of lighting or style that would show the certain colors of the color spectrum

Graphic Design Methods and Principals Project #2: Book Cover

Thomas Mansfield AVT-311 Professor 09 Sept 2020 Type & Image: Book Covers Process Book             Ultimately after hearing that we will be making a project based around an object that could be around us in modern day, easily went for a knife as sadly it is a topic item. Originally was going to try to bring up modern day events, but went away from that idea as to not offend people of the class or who could see it online. So the first problem was finding where I wanted to go since the riots was the main jump of idea. On September 8 th 2020, watched the classic movie psycho and saw that class big knife. Ultimately making a book cover that was and now is a murder mystery book with a vague title to entice the imaginary read to grab it and get caught up in the world. So the research about the movie, similar tropes, as well as color scheme was the next 3 sections to find. Alfred Hitchcock was the big creator of the movie adaptation of the novel originally wrote by Joseph S

Project & Documentation: Now this project essentially was watered down to just students of the class making a dish for themselves out of the things they had and potentially some additives to it. For mine, I decided to do a seared chicken recipe that was very simple, but delicious. That paired with the light almost cucumber taste of a mojito as the perfect like side drink. Recipes for each below: Mojito with Fresh Mint & Lime Ingredients 1 ½ oz rum 6 leaves of fresh mint (reserve a couple leaves) 2 teaspoons sugar 1 lime (half squeezed juice and half cut in slices) 12 oz of soda water or lemon/lime soda Ice (served over the rocks) Garnish – leaf lettuce, piece of lime, and rosemary pieces Preparation Muddle mint and sugar together Add squeezed lime juice to mix and sugar mixture, stir Fill 16 oz glass with ice Pour soda water or lemon/lime soda over ice Add mint, sugar, lime mixture, thin slices of lime, and reserved mint leaves Add

Project & Documentation So on the first week of the project, i stole plants out of my parents garden behind our house. Some fairly small parts of healthy plants. Then cross planted them into big pots that were always near my back door or outside when the weather was nice. Mint                                      Rosemary                                      Lettuce (first sprout)                                                (April 3rd) Using some growth serums and a combination of soils helped significantly with their growth. Wishing I knew what was done with the mint since that grew the biggest. Eventually some started growing out the sides. Along with the one lettuce sprout, sprouted seeds were put in the pot as well. grew them all around and most were slimmer than the already spouted one. Rosemary was the least in terms of growth primarily as one stalk, but on the side in front of it, another rosemary sprout started growing. Mint (Top)                 Lettuce (wit

Research: During all this research the article Time/Bank: Time/Food by Julieta Aranda & Anton Vidokle is a topical article in this time due to it being closed or restricted due to covid-19. This could potentially be extremely damaging to people who had low income and this project was their way of scrapping by. Now there are no statistics to show if the pandemic has damaged this, but the idea of humans having to stay away from each other to not get sick must hurt this idea.  " Time/Bank is an international community of more than 1,500 artists, curators, writers, and others in the field of art who are interested in developing a parallel economy based on exchange of time and skills." Let it be known that the idea is amazing though because it is a form of equal  exchange of work in some capacity for food to be given.  " Time/Food  is a temporary eatery that operates on the Time/Bank economic system — a platform where individuals can pool time and skills, bypassi

Project #3 (Grow): Research & Project Proposal

Research: In my research for this project, the approach is much different than that of the last assignment. This one will have us physically growing plants which prior to this project, I have little to no knowledge of growing anything. So on top of the research here for the artworks I will be looking at info for growing plants well. They will most likely all have slightly different needs, but that should not be hard to find specifics for each plant. Below I have listed all 3 articles that were research for this project. Mosswand , Kilian Lingen, Florian D. Schneider: Kilian and Florian talk about virticle greening which allows them to grow much more that someone would get growing on the ground normally. As said in the article, " Vertical greening on facades and walls is a promising concept for realizing green spaces outside of the competition for space."  The vertical growing can also serve for multiple animals who would find it suitable for nesting sights as well as po
